When customers ask me whether the V Series or WQ submersible sewage pump is better, I usually start with a different question: how much water needs to be moved, and how high does it need to go? The duty point tells us more than the pump size alone.
Chimp Pumps' V Series runs from 0.18 to 2.2 kW (0.25–3 HP). It's a practical option for smaller drainage jobs where a compact pump is enough.
The WQ range starts at 0.75 kW and goes up to 18.5 kW (1–25 HP), giving more choices for demanding applications.
The V Series covers 8–40 m³/h with a head of 7–17 m. WQ models cover 6–180 m³/h and 8–75 m head.
That wider range makes WQ worth looking at for larger water volumes or higher lifts, including industrial drainage and some tunnel or mining applications.
But don't select a sewage pump using the maximum flow figure only. Actual flow changes with head and pipe losses. We always recommend checking the performance curve at the required operating point.
V Series discharge sizes range from ½″ to 3″, while WQ outlets are 2″–6″. Larger outlets can suit higher-capacity discharge piping, but pipe size should still match the system design.
Both ranges list a maximum immersion depth of 5 m and maximum liquid temperature of 40°C. These limits matter when checking installation conditions.
For residential or light commercial drainage, the V Series is often a sensible starting point. For higher flow or greater lifting height, compare the WQ models first.
Neither series is automatically better. The right choice depends on required flow, total head, liquid conditions and operating hours.
